We are reaching out to the local community in the hopes of making �Fundraising Friends� for 2012.

�

The funding department is hosting a �bring a friend� evening at The Cancer Support Centre on Smith Lane on Thursday 9 February from 7:00pm.

The get-together will allow people to introduce themselves, get to know fellow �fundraising friends� and ask any questions, whilst having a few refreshments.

11/02/2012 - Valentine's Day Abseil

We are looking for daring people from Bedfordshire and the surrounding area to take the Valentine themed�challenge and descend 120ft from Bedford College on Saturday 11 February 2012 to raise money for children with cancer. It is �15 to register and all we ask is that you raise a minimum of �100 in sponsorship. Participants who raise over �100 will receive a free CLIC Sargent T-shirt.

There will be morning and afternoon abseil slots available.

Wrap up warm and join the friendly staff at Whirlow Hall Farm to welcome our new arrivals�The first new born lambs of 2012 will be available to see at our Lambing open day on Friday 17^th February. This is a wonderful experience for children to see the magic of new mothers with their babies. Our experienced farm team will be giving talks through out the day and will happily answer any questions you may have. Take a stroll around the farm and meet all the other animals that live here including our Beef Shorthorn Cross calves, if you are lucky you might even see a lamb being born!

Free activities for children on the day, face painting and more. Our delicious Whirlow BBQ offers a tasty lunch; or cosy up in our caf� with a hot drink before purchasing your high welfare meats and local produce in the farm shop. This is a great day out for all the family.

Heading into its 22nd year, the Brighton Half Marathon is one of the longest established and most popular seafront road races in the UK, but whether you are seeking a personal best or this will be your first half-marathon, all are equally welcome!

With its start/finish between Brighton Pier and Marina on Maderia Drive, the race heads north past the grandeur of the Royal Pavilion towards the majesty of St Peter\'s Church. You\'ll head out to bracing cliff tops and enjoy wonderful panoramic views before heading back to the finish area and pass the 2 miles of colourful beach huts of Hove. It\'s then back to the Peace Statue where you take on the dash to your finish line amidst the cheers of the crowd.

March is The Prostate Cancer Charity's Awareness Month. Help us make a difference in the fight against prostate cancer - the most common cancer in men.

We are asking everyone to take part in their own 10,000 challenge to remember the 10,000 men who die every year from prostate cancer.

You could:

- Run 10,000 metres in your local 10k

- Jump 10,000 feet in a sky dive

- Raise 10,000 pennies at work (�100)

- Take a sponsored silence for 10,000 seconds

The Positive Living Group is for anyone who has been told they have cancer or a life-shortening illness. It offers professional advice and support in coming to terms with the diagnosis, managing symptoms and making the most of life. The group runs on a Thursday for four weeks. Come along and bring a friend or family member � we are here to support them too.
